Meet Zuzana

I studied for so long that I eventually ended up on the other side of the teacher’s desk. I studied in Germany, the USA, and France; I had the opportunity to gain experience from world experts such as the UN officials. What I loved about their approach to teaching was their openness, responsibility, and their craving for discovering new things. This is exactly what I now try to pass on to my students. I want to inspire them with my thorough preparation, entertain them, and arouse their curiosity.

Unconventional approach

I most definitely do not want to be conventional, because conventional is boring. However, this does not mean I need to be interesting at all costs. The local environment gives me a free hand in terms of teaching style, and you could say that my lectures resemble modern gastronomy: I take elements and ingredients I know from my own experience and about which I know they will go well together, and then I connect them with the academic point of view. Students then get to taste the best of both worlds.

Changing preferences

However, my childhood dream was to become the Secretary-General of the United Nations. In the past, I did manage to reach high-level posts in this regard. It was fascinating, but I am not interested in holding a formal post anymore; I would rather really do something. My words to live by are: When I do something, I do it well.

No compromises

Going to AAU was a clear choice for me, mainly because after spending many years travelling, I finally decided to settle down and pass my experience on. What I love about this school is the fact that I constantly have to learn new things; I also like the freedom of work. I can conduct my lectures however I want without having to compromise on anything.

Practical examples

I like to search for topics that usually remain off the radar and point out the parallels that affect our personal lives. I am not afraid to use illustrative examples from cinematography and public events for this purpose.

Lecturer 24/7

I do possess a certain educational element that makes me improve, discover new things, and give everything my best. Also, I have a child to keep me in shape; after I close the university door behind me, I immediately open an elementary school door at home.
